        5. Following a brief summary of success stories resulting from fundamental research, the rest of my talk will cover an overview of the various innovation programs at NSF.  The specific topics include the Industry/University Cooperative Research Center ( I/UCRC), Grant Opportunity for Academic Liaison with Industry (GOALI), Accelerating Innovation Research (AIR), Innovation Corps (I-Corps) programs, and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

          Dr. Rathindra (Babu) DasGupta joined the National Science Foundation (NSF) in June 2006 as a program director in the division of industrial innovation and partnerships for the Small Business Innovation Research program.

          DasGupta is currently the lead program director for the Industrial Innovation and Partnerships (IIP) academic partnerships cluster.

          Before joining NSF, DasGupta was the chief scientist for the CONTECH division of the SPX Corporation.
